About Polydemy
What is Polydemy Conversation Lab?
Polydemy is a language speaking practice service. We organize small groups of 3-4 students who meet twice a week with a native polyglot teacher to practice speaking in Spanish, French, or English. Our focus is on helping people who understand a language but struggle to speak it fluently.
How is Polydemy different from a language school?
We do not teach grammar from textbooks. Our sessions are 100% focused on speaking practice. You already know the rules, you just need to practice using them in real conversations. Our teachers are polyglots who have learned multiple languages themselves, so they understand exactly what you are going through.
What languages do you offer?
Currently we offer speaking practice in Spanish, French, and English. Ukrainian is coming soon. All our teachers are native speakers of the language they teach.
How It Works
How do the sessions work?
You join a fixed group of 3-4 students at your level. You meet online twice a week for a structured speaking session led by your teacher. The teacher guides the conversation, introduces topics, and gives targeted corrections without interrupting the flow.
How long is each session?
Each session lasts approximately 60 minutes. This gives everyone enough time to speak, practice, and receive feedback.
What happens after I apply?
Sofia will contact you on WhatsApp within 24 hours. She will have a short conversation with you to understand your level and goals, then match you with the right group. Once matched, you can start your first session.
What if I need to miss a session?
Life happens! Just let your teacher know in advance. Since groups are small, regular attendance is important for the group dynamic. If you need to take a longer break, talk to us and we will find a solution.
Levels and Requirements
What level do I need to join?
We accept students from A2 to B2 level. You should be able to understand most of what is said in the language, even if you struggle to respond. Complete beginners (A0-A1) and advanced speakers (C1-C2) are not the right fit for our groups.
How do you determine my level?
During the initial WhatsApp conversation with Sofia, we will get a sense of your level through a friendly chat. There is no formal test. We want to understand how comfortable you are with the language.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes, all participants must be at least 18 years old. Our groups are designed for adult learners.
Pricing and Commitment
How much does it cost?
It depends on the format and frequency. Online sessions (1 hour, groups of 3-4): 12 euros per session if you come twice a week, or 15 euros per session if you come once a week. Offline sessions in Barcelona (1.5 hours, groups of 3-5): 15 euros per session, regardless of how many times a week you attend.
How do I pay?
You can pay monthly or every two weeks. We will share the payment details after you are matched with a group.
Is there a minimum commitment?
Yes, the minimum commitment is one month. This gives you enough time to get comfortable with your group and see real progress. After the first month, you can continue month-to-month.
Is there a trial session?
Yes, your very first class is a paid trial session: you pay for it separately, in advance. If you enjoy it and decide to continue, you then subscribe for the full month and pay for the remaining sessions of that month.
